　　In the 1990s, people are very aware of how bad things are. As a result, they completely ignore information about new developments and crises to prevent themselves from going "crazy." Today's leaders should therefore provide people with a sense that current problems are soluble (可以解决的) . We need to break large-scale crises down to small manageable pieces rather than cause people to believe that the situation is even more complex and difficult than they thought. 　　Old people are always saying that the young are not what they were. The same comment is made from generation to generation and it is always true. It has never been truer than it is today. The young are better educated. They have a lot more money to spend and enjoy more freedom. They grow up more quickly and are not so dependent on their parents. They think more independently and do not blindly accept the ideas of their elders. Events which the older generation remembers clearly are nothing more than past history. Every generation is different from the older one and today the difference is very marked indeed. (109 words)

　　Where is the boundary between human mind and machine? If the test were reasoning ability, the computer would be our superior. But logic alone does not make a first-class mind. In our complicated world, straightforward reasoning doesn' t always work. As is known to all, productive thought requires not just the rules of logic but a wealth of experience and background information, plus the ability to generalize and interpret new experiences using that information. A genius like Einstein is produced only after many years of study, which is the period of time needed to lay foundations for a creative mind. (100 words)
